Hi Guys -

I'm posting  a photo of some mitties that I've made in Patons SWS (which I just think is so priddy), and a hat in SWS.
The hat is in "Natural Navy", but I've lost the tag for the mittens so i can't recall what the colourway is.

The hat is based on Bzzz Hat for Queen Bees from Stitch'n'Bitch Nation, and unfortunately may look a little icky in the photo...

And the mittens (so soft & cozy)

If you want a pattern for mittens in SWS - here you go (never in my life have i written a pattern, so please forgive me) -

This will fit standard lady hands:

Materials - 1 Ball Patons SWS
               5mm dpns

CO 32 stitches and divide on dpns
work in k3, p1 ribbing for 3"
k1, make 1, k1, make 1, then knit to end of round
k 2 more rounds

thumb gusset
at beginning of round k1, m1, k1, m1 knit to end
row 2: k
row 3: k1, m1, k3, m1 knit to end
row 4: k
row 5: k1, m1, k5, m1 knit to end
row 6: k
row 7: k1, m1, k7, m1 k to end
row 8: k
row 9: k1, m1, k9, m1 k to end
row 10: k
row 11: k1, m1, k10 (and put these 10 on a holder as you go), m1, knit to end.
row 12: CO 4 and then keep working in the round.

Keep knitting in round until you get to about the top of your index finger when you put the mitten on. It's around that point that you will start decreasing.

decreasing:
*ssk, k 15, k2tog* - repeat 1
*ssk, k13, k2tog* - repeat 1
*ssk, k11, k2tog* - repeat 1
*ssk, k9, k2tog* - repeat 1
*ssk, k7, k2tog* - repeat 1
*ssk, k5, k2tog* - repeat 1
*ssk, k3, k2tog*- repeat 1
*ssk, k1, k2tog* - repeat 1

you should end up with about 6 stitches left which you'll pull your tail yarn through, then weave in the end. If you don't quite have 6, don't sweat it...just keep decreasing till you do.

for the thumb -
put the 10 sts on 2 dpns,
pick up 5 sts above these 10 and then start given'r in the round.
Keep going until you get near the top of your thumb, and then start your decrease as above, but begin with ssk, k5.

The colorway used in the mittens is called "Natural Earth". Great job, I've always wanted to make mittens!
