Ugly kitty hat + shiny scarf + armwarmers = fun winter!

Not sure if this is so ugly it's cute, or so cute it's ugly.  Either way I can't take it off my head.  The yarn is this female-author-themed yarn I picked up at a yarn store in Philly; the particular author for this colorway is Louisa May Alcott

I knitted these awhile back (you can see how the yarn has pilled a bit).  I took the lace pattern from this post by spirals420.  Yarn is from Artyarns and is some sort of cotton blend that is prone to pilling .

I love that kitty hat! One question, though: Why is the yarn called 'Louisa May Alcott'?

porfavoray - it was from a bunch of hand-dyed yarn with colorways named after different female authors / icons.  I'm not sure why that particular colorway is called Louisa May Alcott, but I really liked the colors.  I wanted to get one named after Edith Piaf but the colors didn't suit me as much

I love it all. Did you have a pattern for the hat ordid you just make it up as you went along?

It's the kittyville hat, pattern here . I did a 2x2 rib border instead of seed stitch, because I thought it looked better with the yarn.  And I didn't add pom-poms because I find them too silly (even for a kitty hat)
