Unisex messenger bag

I decided to go material shopping today and found this really funky heavy duty material. I've been wanting to try and make a messenger bag, so here is what I came up with. I put on a clip so that the strap can be adjusted and the flap of the bag shuts with a magnetic snap (1st time using them and they are really easy to put in....I don't know why I was intimidated by them before hehe) There is a zip pocket inside of the lining.



Yeah Saturdays!!! A whole day of sewing and relaxing

Thanks Guys!!Here is a pic of the inside (I knew that one day I'd get some use out of my old Intro to Marketing textbook LOL) The textbook is covering the interior zip pocket (which I learned how to install thanks to Craftster!)

I didn't even know that Ikea sold fabric until I was flipping through the magazine last night. I'm glad I went because they have some really funky designs....and the only other fabric store in my city is Fabricland.

I tiny tear just welled up in my eye.  I love this fabric, and everytime I go to Ikea to restock my supply, they're out.  Great bag and great fabric!

This is gorgeous!  Do you think you could post your measurements of your bag.  I have been asked to make a messenger bag and I am clueless as to the measurements.

Don't you just love IKEA fabric?  They have the most awesome prints that you will never find anywhere else.  Another place in IKEA to look for fabric is the "AS IS" section.  They almost always have pillow covers or cases and sometimes curtain panels in there for next to nothing.  I've bought lots of pillow covers there and made them into bags or bag linings.
