its slightly different then all the ones i've seen on craftster- has a wide hem on the bottom that gathers it back in again.. seems like it'd be simple, but i dont want to waste precious fabric trying to get it right...

<----- any ideas?

Make a regular dress, and then make a band as wide as you want, preferably wide enough not to be hobbled in, and then gather the dress into it at the hem.

From the looks of it, it is gathered both at the top (under the bust) and at the bottom.  So basically, it's a tube of fabric that's wider/bigger than you'd normally have it if you were making a straight-down dress.  That gives you the sort of poofy in the middle shape.

I've never actually made a dress like this, I'm just going by the picture.

i meant, instead of  making a tube dress, make it in sort of an oval shape,, like fat around the middle and skinny on the top and bottom? i dunno, a silly idea, but i'm only a novice Smiley

yea, it does look like a tube thats been gathered! {off to try it }

The top part looks like it's pleated.
