The rules of this forum follow all of the same ones as every other one on craftster. I'd like to add that if you post a finished project or a stencil and the orignal stencil was not your own creation, please post a link to the orignal site to give the artist credit. You wouldn't like people stealing your stuff without giving you credit, would you?
Also, please use the search tool before posting a "Do you have a ______ stencil?" The image feature on the search engines can be your best friend!

Many stencils require you to create bridges to islands in the stencil. This allows you to have "floating" sections of a stencil, also known as islands.
Say you want to do a stencil like this:

You cut out the black. but then you realize the white heart inside falls out, because it isn't connected. To stop this from happening, you make bridges!
Bridges are small pieces of paper, cardboard, that you don't cut when making a stencil to keep the "island" or disconnected piece connected to the main part of the stencil, like so:

The red areas are bridges. These are the pieces you do not cut and just leave alone. Pretend they are white, and just cut the black out. After you have printed the stencil on something, use a fine point paint brush the fill in where the red pieces or bridges were, so your stencil is whole.
4. Can I make stencils in Paint shop pro? Adobe Photoshop? The Gimp? Microsoft word?
Yes. What I do is change the image to a grayscale and then play with the brightness/contrast until the image is two toned.
5. What kind of paint do I use?
Well for me, I use the cheapo 99 cent tulip fabric paint from walmart. I just use a sponge brush to paint it on. Some people also use a mixture of acryllic paint with a textile medium. The medium makes it so it isn't stiff and won't crack. Another one is Spray paint.
