I made this for a swap I did on one of my yahoo groups crochet groups. It turned out great, except, guage moron that I am it was smaller than it should have been. I did a dark maroon color with a brown handle and got a brown suede flower pin for embellishment! Super cute, only my partner flaked out and never sent me my purse! Maybe I will make another one, and check my darn guage first! Oh, and keep it!

Heeeelpp! Shocked
I made a huge mistake and I don't want to unravel the whole work. I skipped a yo on this stitch:
Hhdc - herringbone half double crochet: yo, insert hook into st, yo, draw up loop and pull through one loop on hook, yo and draw through both loops on hook

I'm at the row 39, how should a make this?
Hhdc2tog herringbone half double crochet two together: yo, insert hook into first st, yo, draw up loop and pull through one loop on hook, yo, insert hook into next st, yo, draw up loop and pull through one loop on hook, yo and draw through all three loops on hook)
Should I skip the yo too?? which one??? Help! Undecided

Are you sure you skipped that yo? Because the way I'm reading it, that's the one where you actually draw the yarn through the stitch, so maybe it's just so intuitive that you didn't count it as a yo (I never do).

Either way, it shouldn't matter in your overall stitch count. Each crochet stitch ultimately ends in one loop. All the other steps affect how the stitch looks but not your subsequent rows. That said, I don't think you should worry about your decrease. If it ends up looking out of place or it's too high, you could mess around with the yos, but as far as function, it should work out fine.

Hope that helps. Sorry if I misunderstood your problem.

Here's mine.  It's done in recycled silk yarn.  I found this pin laying around and thought it was a nice touch.  My only complaint is that you can tell when I had to switch balls of yarn.  There is more color difference than I realized.  If I work with this yarn again, I will just have to switch every now and then like I am doing stripes.

That yarn looks gorgeous! Very colorful.

I actually can't tell when you had to switch the yarn.

That's gorgeous! Love the color! Did you make the embellishment yourself?
