Yay, I'm finished, and hubby is finally home with camera  Grin

Without further ado, my fatbottom purse:

the lining (I can't sew to save my life, please forgive me sewing gods):

Close up of details (lining, tortoiseshell handles, and purchased beaded flower pin):

I used lion brand cotton in Sagebrush, tortoiseshell handles I found at Joanns, and the lining and pin I also found at Joanns. I am so glad I finally made this, and so upset it took me so darn long. (I've had the book since it's release Shocked)

tangledfingers, your bag looks fabulous!
And it looks quite big, bigger than the first one I've made - or is that just the picture?  Love your handles, too!
Did you line it when it was already finished? I've had the friend I'm making the black fancy fat bottom bag for sew in the lining when I was done with the body, before adding the handle flaps. She's an accomplished seamstress, and it worked really well because it's so much easier to sew it on the flat crocheted piece (she used the sewing machine) than sewing it in later.
I'll be adding the second handle flap today, so I should be done soon, too.

is the difference between the two just the size of handles?

steen- One reason that I haven't attempted this bag is because I didn't like the handles at all. The other reason is because I wasn't sure my crochet skills could tackle it. But, I love your modification and my crochet skills are improving, so I may be attempting this in the near future. And I love your lining fabric!

the modification steen did is really easy! I did a very similar one shortly after the book first came out because I didnt have circular handles: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=85662.0

Ok, I've finally taken pictures, here's my second finished FBB. This time it's lined (lining was sewn in before adding the handle flaps), and it's done in black microfibre yarn (Schachenmayr Micro) with some silver/gold effect yarn held as one.
While I was hunting for something I could decorate it with, I happened to find a jar with seashells we brought as a souvenir from Denmark. Didn't even have to punch holes in, there already were some Smiley

Hope you like Smiley

I've finished one of these, and I'm working on my second. Here's the first:

It's the suggested yarn, LB Lion Cotton, but in Teal.

Sorry Sarantha, I havent replied, I was on vacay away from my PC  Smiley

I am not really sure if mine is bigger than average, I dont have any to compare it to, I did follow the pattern to a T though. I just started another one, but this time with "new" Cotton Ease. It started out way smaller so I actually frogged it and started again with an I hook this time and I am trying to crochet a bit looser.

As for the lining, I learned my lesson. I did a hack job and yes, unfortunately, sewed it in after it was assembled. I will wait this time before starting on the handle part and sew lining in first. I should have two more made here shortly and will post pics as soon as I am done. They are due for mothers' day  Wink
