I made my Chihuahua a new sweater yesterday using Lamb's Pride Worsted in Orange You Glad.  I did it on size US 8 dp's, with size 7's for the ribbing.

Some people tell me it's mean, but she really likes her sweaters, since she gets cold so easily.  The pattern is here:

http://www.cs.oswego.edu/~ebozak/knit/esb-patterns/dog-sweater.html

It's a great pattern, customizeable for any size dog.  It seems intimidating at first, but once you go through it, it's easy as pie.  You can use circulars if you don't like double pointeds (well, as long as you don't have a little Chihuahua since they don't make circs small enough), and she gives instructions for steeks (which I don't do) if you'd rather do that than bind off and then cast on again for the armholes and belly.

my chiihuahua loves his sweaters too. if i even show him one of them he gets very excited and helps me to put it on him. and when he's tired of wearing it, he takes it off himself. i've made him fleece shirts, but i haven't attempted knitting him one yet. maybe i'll try this pattern and i'll post pix when i'm finished.

That is so cute!  Too bad my mom's Chihuahua Spanky (my avatar) hates sweaters.  He likes baby blankets.  His half brother (who is 5 times his size) likes to wear Spanky's sweater around his neck though, that's all he can fit through!

That is so cute!  I don't think it's mean at all.  Actually, I always bring sweaters, dog costumes and dog hats when I teach puppy class.  It is great fun for the humans and teaches the puppies to love being handled!  They learn - ooohhh, cute sweater = yummy treat for me!  Pretty soon a lot of the dogs are bringing their sweaters to their humans trying to get them to put it on!

Great job and I LOVE the color!

Hee.  No, her name's Margherita, or just Ghita for short.  Maybe I can knit her a little hat that looks like a brunette bob and she can be Velma for Halloween.  Grin

Oh geez!  That would be so cute!!!!  If you do that, you have to have to HAVE TO post a pic or three!!!!!!!  Now I wish I had a dog, too.  I think my cat would be pretty anti- that idea, though.

I LOVE the sweater - and your pooch.  Both are adorable.  Makes me wish I weren't allergic to dogs so I could have one too!  (sniff)
