I just completed my first summer top!

The pattern is New Look 6563, view A. It is made from an off-white stretchy cotton poplin with brown and blue stripes.  I used a lace trim that is narrower than called for in the pattern, since I didn't want it to be overly girly.  It's hard to see in the pic but the buttons are small tan squares, which match the brown stripes almost perfectly.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.  It calls for a tie in the back, which I skipped since the shirt is pretty fitted.  And wearing a shirt with such a tie would really just be asking for my cat to jump at me and claw my back to get to it (and eat it).

I plan to make a few more summery shirts, so hopefully there will be more pics coming over the next few months.

Good luck with your spring and summer-y tops, everyone!
