so i found this gorgeous clip-on earring at a thrift store, with no price tag and no mate, so they gave it to me for 10cents!

this isn't a horribly difficult idea that took a lot of skill, but i thought it might inspire some of you other craftsters!

i just super glued the earring shut, you know, so it didn't "clip" anymore, and strung it on a chain!

isn't it lovely?!

I think it's a very good way to use costume jewelery, nobody really ever uses those old clip ons cause they're uncomfortable to wear, but they usually have some charm to them, so I say good job, and I'll probably try this!

NICE FIND-- that looks super awesome and delicously gaudy-- I love the look of costume jewelry, and that clip on is a great specimen. Way to craft it to good use

Nice! That would be one strange-looking earring, but it looks awesome as a necklace. I can't tell you how many times I bought thrift or garage sale earrings I knew I would never wear, but now I can use your terriffic idea. Thanks!

I wondered about, but never have tried, a clip on earring as a shawl pin or hook...you know, to keep it together. Do you think that would work?  Huh I don't even have any to try it.  Undecided

hm, it might work, might not, since the clips are so small, you could take off the back with pliers or something though and super glue/hot glue like a long pin on it, and have it kinda like a hat pin maybe, but for a shawl, i hope that makes sense.

*Sighs whistfully* How I wish I still had my Mrs. Pots (from Beauty and the Beast  Grin) clip-ons Sad Those would have been superawsome.
