Anyone have any tips on moving all this stinkin' snow?  My mom and I seem to be unable to move any of the snow at the bottom of the driveway since it's got ice in the middle and is REALLY heavy! Sad

Hi, I live in Harrisburg with the icy snow too.  We found that a spade shovel works wonders.  Just hack away and do some back breaking work.  It took us a while, but we finally got our cars out. Good luck!

Hmmm.  The bad news is we problaby have that....in the shed. Ah, well.

I'm still lookin' for someone to come do it for us, since neither my mom or i are really in a position where we should be moving huge chunks of ice.

I used an axe....  Grin
Seriously. I used an axe to break up the ice, and then a spade shovel to hurl it out of the driveway. Boy does my back hurt now.   Undecided

Putting rock salt down about an hour before you work on it helps a lot too!

My neighbour came over with a spade that instead of coming to a point, was flat and sharp on the end.

We got out my mom's car so she can go over to her office tomorrow to see what all she missed, but my car's going to be sitting for a while, I think.

I finally dug my car out today... it took me an hour and a half, and phew! Was I tired! It was horrible because the snow had frozen into solid blocks of ice! I used one of those flat-ended shovels and basically used it like a jackhammer, haha. I cut the ice into huge chunks and just tossed the big chunks into huge piles, haha.

My yard looks like an igloo collapsed in it.  Grin

My friend's husband thinks some of the ice he cleared off her car weighed at least 100lbs. I shudder to clear my car off/dig my own car out, since it took 3 days to get my mom's out...

Hey annaonthemoon--seems like we will be cleaning up this crap for a bit...I missed two days of work and so did hubby--what he did was turn on the cars for about an hour, then one big hit with a plastic shovel, the ice broke off in chunks!!  The hard part was hauling the ice blocks off the driveway---I HATE WINTER!

Yeah, my mom missed 3 days of work ,and even now, we just came home from running errands and we had to go get the neighbor to help her get back into the little spot we cleared for her car.

My car's stuck til spring!
