small but can you ever get alot of tiny stuff in there.  Are my eyes deceiving me or did another question (that I don't remember seeing or answering this morning)appear on the sign-up?  Anyway, of course I'll be decorating my matchboxes, thats half the fun!

check out the match box shrine thread here in case you're wondering what you will do with all your new tiny loot!

Was that question added in? I thought I had just missed it first time around. D'oh!

Whew.  We've got 28 swappers signed up and ready to go!  That's 58% of our maximum enrollment!  I'm such a geek!  I'm so excited to see what everyone comes up with!

You caught me!  I just added a 4th question to the questionaire about whether you are going to decorate your box.  This is just to help me match people up, but it is not essential.  If you didn't get asked that question, don't worry.  However, if you've yet to sign up, please answer it for me.  I'm sorry for any confusion that late addition caused.

I hope this isn't a stupid question but are these the tiny little matchboxes you get at places like Restaurants and bars or are they the long ones for fireplaces and BBq's ??

It sounds like a fun idea.

It's tiny.  The usual ones you find of this size in the U.S. are....
....in inches:  2-1/16 x 1-3/4 x 1/2
....in centimeters: 5.2 x 4.4 x 1.3

But different counties have different sizes, so you don't need to be exact.  You just need to find a matchbox that holds between 30 and 40 standard sized wooden matches.

Sometime we're gonna have to figure out what to do with all the matches!!  I have little tupperware boxes and jars and baggies full of matches everywhere.  When it gets warmer (and I can be in the garage for awhile) I'm going to burn the ends on a bunch and decorate a box or something with them-like that old tramp art.

You mentioned that tramp art someplace else, but I don't know what it is -- do you have a picture you could share?

don't have a handy pic, but its done on flat surfaces, glueing the matches in geometric designs (like with all the black heads in one direction or design). The matches should just have the tip black so they are the same size. Does that make sense?   I've seen it on antique stuff like picture frames, lamps, boxes; it may also have been a camp craft at one time.  I would assume that you varnish it when finished.  I'll try and make something this weekend to show ya

Wow!  That's cool.  And here I've been throwing the matches away like a chump.

I was thinking about what I should do with all my leftover matches, too. I found a pack of eight small boxes (they hold 32) at the dime store for $1.29 or so, but also got a pack of three gigantor boxes (200 some matches, I think). I put the extra matches from the three I emptied into one of the big ones. I'd like to maybe cover a box or table with matches in a parquet pattern, which on Trading Spaces or While You Were Out: a huge table covered in matches with resin poured over the top to seal it. It turned out very nicely, but it took them forever.

I'm planning on decorating mine. Cheesy

xamonster -- that's a cool idea.  You could do just a tray if you didn't want to spend that much time.  I owe someone a resin tray, I might have to steal that idea.  I'm so mad at myself for chucking out those matches!

On page 1, I've listed everyone in the swap and the number of partners they requested.  Please double check that I've listed the right number for you, and double check your profile to make sure you have "in progress" for this swap.
