It's Rowan Cashcotton DK (took just over 5 balls to knit the whole thing). I wore it for the first time on Tuesday, it was a big hit at the office

I finally looked at this thread, and you guys are really tempting me! There's some really nice sweathers here and the directions make it sound so easy.

Thank you

And nah, it's not a surprise haha.. I wasn't even sure she'd wear a sweater at first so I had to ask. Plus, I didn't really know how itd fit her compared to me so I've made her try it on a couple times, heh.
One sleeve down!!
The color changes look weird though.. Idk how to fix it.
Luckily.. my girlfriend is amazing and even though I was stressing that it wouldn't look good she told me she loved it and would still wear it all the time
hehe
Oh and ps, I recruited her. She's a knitter now too

To change the colors you would slip the first st on the round, then knit the 2nd st with the new color. Look up Jogless jog for more details and maybe pictures.

Finished, wore it to work, it was a big hit. Wish I had made it a little smaller though, it's grown a bit. Nothing some hand washing and time in the dryer can't fix, though.

Looks great! I like the eyelet/lace pattern you used on it. I really need to get over my fear of knitting sweaters (it's the amount of time + the cost of materials X about 100 in anxiety). Then again, the last knitting pattern I tried, I frogged four times (in the first two inches) before determining that the pattern definitely wasn't working for me.

Muria, just jump right in! I've been putting off sweaters for years till I found this thread. The directions are fairly easy to follow, and you can use a less expensive yarn for your first one. I'm using Caron Simply Soft. I bought two skeins at about $3 each, and I have a partial skein from a previous project in the same color. I'm maybe halfway through skein #2 (at the most) and I'm already workin on the ribbing at the bottom of the sweater body, which means all I have after I fihish that is the sleeves. I cast on for the L, and am doing a single color. So if you already have the needles you need you could make this sweater for $5-$10 depending on the size you make and whether or not you do stripes...

Rachillsk8, that has a delicately feminine look, so I'm not surprised it was a hit. I like the lace, the neckline, and the waist shaping.
Not to be indelicate myself, but I rather like these raglans with the wider neck, and was wondering how those of you who have chosen the boatneck option have handled the bra strap question. Do you just have to work a couple of inches and try on to see if it's too wide or is there some trick you use beforehand to know?
Jewells68, thank you for that information about how much yarn it took you. If I'm willing to have some offbeat stripes, I could do this from stash!

I got it to her, just in time for her to go to Kansas (grrr.... two weeks without her. lame)
but she's adorable in it hehe.
P.s., the Mr. Dangly she's holding is one she knitted. It's her second project
I'm so proud
