This is so cool.  First of all, it looks just like a foram.  Second, how original!    Third, it looks like the stuff on that funny geometry crochet website, can't remember the name right now.  Great job!

rina- If you can think of that geometry crochet  website, I'd love to know what it is. I taught a bunch of my 7th graders how to crochet, but I don't think my boss sees it as valuable. The more evidence that I have about the math in crochet, the better!

Trifarina- You inspired my hat for the crochet challenge (deep sea angler fish)! And now I'm thinking that I need to make a whole bunch of science-themed hats. I'll be teaching elementary school next year (I teach science) and that means that I'll be outside for recess (and probably bus duty). So, I'll need some cool hats! Thanks for the inspiration!

Found an NPR story on the website I was talking about, regarding hyperbolic geometry:  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4531695

The actual site is the Institute for Figuring, http://www.theiff.org/

Thanks rina! Those models are cool! Now I'm itching to try to make one for myself...not that 7th graders understand this kind of math, but it'd still be neat to have on hand!

Something to add to my list...
