i hope this is the right place to put this.....if someone knows of a better place, please let me know!

i found this maternity dress pattern, mccalls 4398http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4398.htm?tab=family_sleepwear_maternity&page=2, and thought i'd give it a try. i've given up on simplicity, since none of their patterns ever work for me and i find their directions confusing.

anyway....i sewed up view c (the yellow long-sleeved dress) but omitted the sleeves. i also omitted the linings (hate sewing them) and used a 22" zipper instead of a 20" because i found one at the thrift store for 50 cents and i wasn't about to pass that up! i also used a medium weight cotton instead of the lighter rayon or georgette suggested, which doesn't drape quite as well, but i can't have everything i want in life.

it fits absolutely perfectly, except for a little snugness on top...i'm a little more uh endowed than the size allowed for. the measurements are right, it's just not as loose as i think it's supposed to be. that's ok, it fits and it looks cute! and i lovelovelove the fabric so much!! i have lots of little seemingly useless bits left over...more things to make!

thanks for looking Smiley

p.s. wow those pictures are large! i had modified them but i guess not enough. sorry about that!

Lucky you for being pregnant! And the dress is very cute, too.

I found that when preggers stretch wrap dresses (which really became wrap shirts) were also fun to make and easy to wear as well. Ohh I wish I was pregnant again  Grin

awww thanks! you guys sure know how to make a girl blush Smiley

i, of course, am very happy! i love this time! and i really liked this pattern (not to mention the fabric in all its fun-ness)....i probably will make another dress from the pattern with a stretchier fabric and i may modify it to become a wrap dress. it seems easy enough to do in my head, anyway!

thank you!!

That's pretty! And if you modify it for a wrap around you could probably wear it for a long time since wrap arounds usually make for very adjustable fit Smiley (So yeah like totally, go for that wrap around idea!)
