As soon as I saw this in the thrift store, I knew its destiny...

I am so lucky she's too young to stop me from dressing her  Cheesy

-------------------------------------------------------------

quickie tute:

My pattern is from a pre-existing dress.  Fold tee in half and cut to make two panels, front and back.

For this you will want a little extra on the sides to sew seams, but not the arms, neck, and hem.
Cut a couple of strips to use as waist ties, if you like.
Separate panels and cut a slightly lower neckline in front panel, if wanted.
Shape top ties into points for tying (although they were a bugger to edge).

Sew sides of front and back panels together (and ties).
To edge the neckyokes, ties, armholes, and bottom hem, use a wide but tight zigzag stitch.  Let needle zag off the edge of seam while stretching fabric.

(I would of been pulling on the back of the fabric also, but I needed a hand for the picture taking)

More stretch = more ruffles
Place dress on child and offer chocolate if she smiles for the camera.
When she sticks her tongue out, give her chocolate anyway.

Easy, easy, easy.  Any questions?

Your daughter is absolutely adorable!

Also, I love the original shirt.  It looks even better on your little girl.

Haha! I LOVE it! When I saw the first picture I had no idea what was going to come, but that little dress is so much better than anything I could have imagined!

I too LOVE the ruffled edges.

Great job!

Thank-you!  My daughter loves Marley, loves to dance.  I'm taking my kid on a round of music festivals this summer so this little number will get lots of wear (and tie-dye doesn't show the dirt).  (As if I'd care anyway, but its a little bonus).

I love Bob Marley. You are the coolest mom, your daughter's little dress is so cool. I have question though, how did you make the edges of the dress curl up like that? You did a really great job. It's so cute!
