Yarn Suggestion?

I recently made my mom, who has quite the unique fashion sense which I love, a scarf made out of Lion brand watercolors.  Her husband, who is a glass blower, wants a scarf that has the same sort of scattering of colors, because he thinks the scattering looks like the tiny pieces of glass they use to create splotches of color in their pieces.  The watercolors yarn is a little fuzzy for his scarf however, so does anyone have a suggestion for yarn that would create the same sort of look but not be so fuzzy?  I am sending them to a yarn store in their city for suggestions but I thought one of you might know the perfect thing!  Thanks in advance!

I'd start with www.yarndex.com for the general characteristics.  I know someone using a yarn like what you're looking for, but I don't know the name of it.
