Hi there!

So here's my conundrum:  I have so many cute patterns for 3D beaded Japanese animals etc but they take SO many crystals that it would cost me about $30-35 to make most of the patterns, based on the price I have to pay for swarovski (sp?) beads here (ie 25-40c each!!).  I am tortured daily by the opportunity to make deliciously cute beaded things and am restrained only by the sight of my very skinny wallet...

So I need a lead on a good bead dealer!  Anyone have any ideas for me?

Oy.  Swarovskis are nice products, but I can't see spending that much for them when I've seen tons of other beads that are very nice, for a fraction of the cost.

Rings & Things (www.rings-things.com) does a traveling bead show year-round, and they'll be in Mt. Vernon, WA March 31.  That might not  be *terribly* far from where you are.  They carry a line called url=https://www.rings-things.com/cgi-bin/hazel/hazel.cgi?action=serve&item=crystal_cosmic.html]Cosmic Crystal[/url] that is much cheaper but nonetheless very good quality.

Thanks for the heads up, MsChilePepper.  I'll check that site out! Now I just have to scheme up a way to get to Mt. Vernon....  Grin

FMG also carries Celestial Crystals.  They are a nice quality crystal, less expensive then Swarovski but not as many color choices.  If you put them side to side you can tell a difference but otherwise I really like them.  I use Celestial rounds with Swarovski bicones and they still look lovely.  If you have access to a copy of Bead & Button there are some online suppliers in BC and other areas of Canada.  If you cant find a copy let me know and I'll go through and find some of the websites.  If you are ever as far south as Olympia, Shipwreck Beads is located there.  They have a website but their prices on Swarovski are higher than FMG.  But they do have some items you wont find at FMG and they have some great prices on other beads, especially firepolished.

Thanks so much for the info.  I'll see if I can buy a copy of the Bead and Button magazine--I think i saw them at Michaels.  Thanks for the offer of research!  I let you know if I can't find the mag. Smiley

I received my regular issue of Bead & Button a couple of days ago and found some locations in Canada for beads, all online.  I'm not sure if they are in BC but you can check them out.  I have no information about them other than being Canadian based.

www.jewelrysupply.com has Swarovski for between $0.06US/each to $0.11US/each.  they sell them in packs of 10 beads, and if you order more than 10 packs, the price goes down.

So I've successfully acquired a copy of Bead and Button for this month (how have I gone this long without one?!) and have perused the various ads.  My gosh, there's a tonne!  So I'm just going to go with your suggestions about FMG and jewelrysupply.com and poke through Sophisticated Hippie's suggestions.  I'm shocked that jewelrysupply.com has them for so cheap!

I get the distinct feeling that canadians are at a disadvantage crafting, and beading especially, because anywhere I've gone locally and in Vancouver has been far more expensive than in the USA. Very suspicious....

And Thank you for all the suggestions and research!!

I think it's more because they act as a wholesale place too, so they can charge lower prices.

If you do run into an issue ordering things to be shipped to canada, PM me, and we can work something out! I'd hate to see you paying higher prices based on where you live!
