My husband decided yesterday that he would really like for the baby to be a lobster for Halloween. I went down to the craft store, and they had no lobster patterns. They did have a devil pattern, which I thought I could change easier than anything else. It's a pretty basic jumpsuit and hood. I've got red flannel, and some red sock yarn with which to knit or crochet various little bits, and stuffing. this is for a 7 month old baby, not walking yet, but should be sitting on his own by Halloween. Anyone have any ideas or tips? I'm a mediocre seamstress, but I'm an expert knitter and crocheter, so things that I can knit or crochet to put on the jumpsuit and hood would be great!

Well, the first thing you wanna do is find pictures of ready-made lobster baby costumes.

I googled, and came up with this:

from http://www.infashionkids.com/baby-halloween-costumes---lobster-costume.html which has some closeups

There's a similar costume from this website: http://www.anniescostumes.com/walkeranimal.htm (you have to scroll down). I think this shows more clearly the best way to make it- make a little hooded jumper that fits the bubba loosely, and make padded clobster 'arms and claws' and attach them to the outside of the sleeves. Make the googly stalk and eyes, and attach them to the hood which you make want to thread a cord through to make a bonnet type thing to keep it on bub's head, and two rounded, padded tummy/back/shell shapes, attach them to the front and back of the jumper, and do the same with the tail, which may be incorporated into the tummy/back/shell.

You could crochet the eyes and stalks Smiley

Just look at the pictures and see what you can come up with. Make sure you post pictures!!
