I picked one up at a Barnes & NOble today. If I get up the guts, I may knit the slanted-neck pullover. I've wanted something like that since I saw Curious George. I just need an affordable substitute, though. I also really, really love the keyhole top but I wonder if there's a way to make it "bra-able" instead of open at the back.

Also...I'm wondering...is there a lot of subscriber-only content on the web? Is it worth a subscription?

Actually, everything I remember being in the subscribers only section is now in the free projects.

If you click on "subscriber login" it takes you to an email farming site for their new idea knittingdaily.com.

But, if you click on the free projects link, you can take a look at a few projects from spring 2007, including the infamous knit thong  Wink

I'm going to make the free project Lace Nightie in Rowan Kidsilk Haze instead of the recommended Alchemy Yarns Bamboo.

can you save me the effort of finding out ... what weight is the yarn for the nighty, roughly?  (yards and grams mean nothing to me... I like the 1-6 scale, or "worsted" etc)

I was thinking about doing that one too. I saw the alchemy yarn was $30+ and started thinking of other yarns to make it in.

They are doing away with the subscriber-only content on the website, anyway.

Wow, I just saw that huge thread on Knitter's Review!  I'm not wild about the new layout but I'm certainly not going to stop buying it just because of that!  If they started having consistently lousy patterns, however...

I am bummed that they don't seem to have the redhead model any more...I really liked her!

I for one love the new layout.   I hated the old one.  The pictures weren't clear and it bugged me to have ads interspersed with the patterns.  Makes it pretty hard to pick up a magazine in the grocery store isle and have to look at every single page before deciding if you want to buy it.  The new layout - you only need to look at a half dozen pages to determine if it's a worthwhile issue.

And re: the person who asked if you could do clementine with just 2 skeins of Alpaca Silk.

I just finished it a few days ago and it definitely takes 3 skeins.  I might have even wanted 4.  It wouldn't even get around your shoulders with 2 skeins, unless you made it really narrow (it's only 10 inches as is).  If you cut out a whole lace repeat, you might make length, but it would be only 5 or 6 inches wide - not really enough to cover your shoulders.
