I have two of those on my desk, made them a long time ago when my mom brought back the pattern from one of her craft association meetings. I just had to try it, too cute. The pompom use a rectangle cardboard instead of round so they are flat, with makes it easy to join together. We also alternated the yarn colors so they're stripped, looks great. I could take a picture if anyone is interested in another example.

For the fishing line, use the black, extrastrong fishing line. It's easier to work with than the tiny one and it makes great whiskers.

Holy cow! I haven't thought about yarn kitties since I was a munchkin!  The sweet old lady across the street used to make them for me.  Grin ahhhhh thanks for bringing back that memory!
