I'm so excited, just got an email from Built by Wendy - two new patterns - pants/shorts and top/dress- both very cool.  Does anyone know when the next $1 Simplicity sale is on at Joanns?

Thought you would be interested to know!!

I just found out by looking on her website. I'm so excited though, the top/tunic is totally cute. And I would love to make the shorts and capris for summer! They look like they fit well  Smiley

P.S. how do you get e-mails from her? Is there a newsletter thing you can subscribe to??

I just started working on the shorts last night with some great black/white seersucker. Dear God though, the zipper instructions are harder than I could have ever dreamed!

what an excellent day for an exorcism!

At my Joanne's the Simplicity sales exclude "Sew Easy" and "Built by Wendy" those shorts are really cute! They look like they might be a little tight fitting though.

larahspee- you should post pictures and do a sewing pattern review when you finish! good luck!

I finally finished the BBW #3850 shorts in seersucker fabric! I will post pictures as soon as I can get a decent shot of them.

The pattern was relatively easy for someone who hasn't sewn much (like me). The zipper instructions were a little harder than needed to be and you probably could have subsituted a lap zipper with fewer steps to complete. But overall, totally easy.

The shorts, although I measured myself and followed instructions to a "T", came out about two sizes too big in the hips. I read somewhere that Wendy is generous in her sizing and that couldn't be more true! So that is something to keep in mind when cutting your pattern out.

I also did the "top" pattern #3835 and I seriously think that was the easiest pattern in the world for a top that is quite cute and easily embellished with your own stuff. I'll post pictures of that, too, when I can get them.
