I still had one pair of my grandfather's wooden handles remaining, and my friend Jess has been BEGGING me to make her a bag, so.....

She gets a wooden-handled bag covered in wee Japanese animals! (She's a very girly girl, but she LOVES everything Japan, so I made this to fit her personality). And as a bonus, the lining is off a free promo band shirt we got at work and no one wanted, so there's a nice bit of recycling at work, too. Cheesy

And the details:
Fabric - outside from equilter.com, inside from a Rae & Christian teeshirt
Handles - handmade by my grandfather
Applique - modified from a Tombat design
Overall design - modified Jordy
Zipper - from SewPixie's tutorial. Sew easy! (har har)

PS: Robert Hooke, the discoverer of cells, wanted to name protozoa "animalcules" because they were a cross between animals and molecules. Neat, eh?

I have that fabric!  I was going to use it as part of an Asian-themed quilt I'm planning, but I may have to save some and do something like your cute purse.  Great job!!!!

ooh, I love  the Asian fabrics section of equilter! I spent so much extra on shipping since they're in America, but I just had to get about 6 different patterns. I absolutely love their Mah Jongg tile patterns, but I haven't decided exactly what I'm going to use it in yet.

Oh, and thanks for all the nice comments - I gave it to Jess this afternoon and she SQUEALED! And commissioned me to make 5 more bags for each of her bridesmaids. Nice bit of extra cash for christmas gifts. Smiley
