However- Esmerelda's gonna kill me- I have never once made it all the way through Lords and Ladies.

I'm sorry! I'll try again! Put down the poker! Aagggghh!

How VERY DARe YOU!!!

If I tell you that I didn't read Colour of Magic/Light Fantastic until I had read all the others released until Fifth Elephant, and the Bromeliad trilogy, and Good Omens (which is definitely one of my favourite TP books, 's a pity it's not a Disc book), and even then had to take two runs at each of them, does that even the score?... Tongue

Weeeelll maybe, though I don't particularly care for Color of Magic myself. He hadn't found his voice yet, I think. But Light Fantastic is great. So yeah, I'd say the score is even.

I've been collecting some inspirational sites for this swap since the discussion thread clocked over 3 pages, so here is what I have so far:

http://www.dwcon.org/
http://www.paulkidby.com/colourprints/large.html
http://www.paulkidby.net/Gallery.html

and of course, some (ahem ahem) tutorials Wink :
http://stephieface.blogspot.com/2006/06/terry-partchetts-discworld-death-of.html

I tried to find more Discworld/Terry Pratchett tutorial/pattern links... but they can be tough to find *shakes fist*

2/18/12 - I no longer have the directions for wrapped pens, I lost them several years ago. To obtain them for yourself, do like I did, contact DMC threads directly and ask for them.

Hi ladies,

I have a question to ask you:

I had a request from another crafter to join this swap.  She is not a Discworld fan, but her husband is a massive fan and she wanted to know if she could swap for goods for her husband (i.e. she would craft for her partner, and her partner would craft for her husband).  Now, I know that we have had "Significant Other" swaps on Craftster, but I wanted to ask your opinion on whether it would be ok for her to join.  I don't want to prevent anyone from joining this swap, even if they have only read a couple of the books, but I also want to make sure that everyone receives something that they would like from their partner.

Please let me know your thoughts/concerns etc.  If you don't want to publish them here, please feel free to send me a pm.

Thanks!
es

PS. Oh, and PinFish: I can't find my copy of L&L!!!!  Waaaaaaah!

I think that would be fine. My only concern, which is not really a concern of concerny proportions, is that she would work hard to make things for someone and her partner in turn may feel bad since she isn't getting anything. Its mainly just a feelings thing, like "I wonder if I didn't send enough" or "I feel like what I sent isn't good enough after looking through the gallery" etc. If she's totally fine with that setup, I don't see an issue. I think its pretty awesome that she's willing to do that for her Mister.  Grin

I think that as long as her husband "participates" it'd work. What I mean is that if she gets the questionaire from her partner, as a non-discworld-fan it won't mean much to her. She and her husband would have to consult re: what it means to have that favorite character and that favorite book and what a partner who listed those things might like of a Discworld-y nature.

And I agree with Conley...sweet that she wants to do that for her guy.

This sounds fine to me... maybe it will turn her into a fan! Wink

And I think that the more Discworld crafts that exist in the universe, the better off we will all be.
