My first Craftster post! I’m always so inspired by the stuff I see on here, so I’m excited to make my first contribution to the site! Anyway, here’s the story behind this quilt.

When I returned home after traveling abroad for a while, I wanted to kind of commemorate the experience in some way. The idea of making a quilt popped into my head, and I began going through my travel photos in search of an image that would both represent the trip and translate well in fabric.

Next, I rifled through all my old clothes and selected colorful fabrics to use for the design. At Jo-Ann Fabric, I picked up a bunch of orange fleece to use for the main body of the quilt. The whole thing came together through a process of cutting up bits of my old clothes and gluing them to the fleece. Once I’d finalized the design, I began sewing randomly over the entire thing, occasionally alternating thread colors. An old blanket served as batting, and when all the pieces had been assembled I roughly quilted it with a handful of star-shaped clusters of gold stitches.

Thanks for looking!
Cheers

But I still will believe.
And I will rise up with fists!
And I will take what is mine, mine, mine.
There but for the grace of God go I.
