that's awesome! i dig the colour!
what kind of yarn did you use, and did you double strand? i feel like my bumpy berry/popcorn bits aren't as pronounced as everyone else's, and i can't decide if it's cuz i used cotton, or cuz i single stranded, or both!

Why thank you Smiley I used some Lion Brand wool I had handy but I didn't double strand... that may have worked out better but I kind of like lots of bumps... did you knit your hat in the round using the pattern exactly as it was on garnstudio?  I had to sort-of invert the second and fourth rounds to make my bumps bumpy, haha.

yes, i knit mine in the round and followed the garnstudio pattern exactly except for the decreasing. hmmmmm.....i'll have to see how the next one goes as i'm definitely going to knit this hat again.

So I finally made my own Starlet hat and I LOVE it!  I was really afraid to try this.  The last hat I made I hated, but not this one!

I used pinnnedtothepage's pattern for the most part.  I cast on more stitches because I have a big head, so the decreases were a little different.

I used Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice in a Dusty Rose.  It only took most of one skein.

I made one too ^_^

I sort of wish the stitch pattern was bumpier -- maybe next time I'll try doubling up the yarn.  This time I used size 8 needles and cast on ~100 stitches.

stitch close-up!

I finished this yesterday and it's my first actual holiday knit completed.  Woohoo (Holiday knitting is stupid)

I hope the hat fits the girl I'm giving it to!

so, i've made this hat a BUNCH more times, and here are some pix of my most recent completions.

i made this one for a co-worker x-mas gift exchange. the yarn was vanna's choice and i held two strands together on US10 needles. i think i CO 68 stitches, and once again did some wonky on-the-fly decreasing at the end.

this one was knit for myself, and i switched up the pattern a bit. i CO 60 stitches on US10 needles for the ribbing, then i switched to US 13 for the body of the hat. it made for a much more open, almost lace-like, pattern and i LOVE it! i used paton's merino in peacock, and again held two strands together throughout.
