Well now that I'm an expert Wink after learning 4 hours ago and making a few I'll give you some observations I have made on the initial cuts.

You need to cut all the way down the longest straight part of the straw right up to the bendy bit.  It can be really tough to get these cuts straight AND even but it really just adds character to the shrimp.  I mean come on they get pretty motley and even lose legs and stuff Smiley.

Two of the three segments need to be the same width.  They form the body and legs of your little guy.  The thrid piece forms the "spine" and antenna so it can be a different size if you choose.  So far I pefer to have the two matching sides a bit wider than the spine just because it gives the shrimp a bigger carapace and thicker legs.

Feel free to prove me wrong and try new stuff, but if you try to match up two of the sides to be the same then the third can be what ever you have left.  Good luck!

It isn't as complicated as it seems once you make the first one- maybe if you could get some larger straws it might be easier for smaller hands?
