this is a less-inventive version of some gift-tags that a friend of my father's family used to make for everyone at christmas time.  i saved all of them because they were so great... well then this year i tried to make my own version.  we don't really do holidays, but it's fun to make non-occasion ornaments, too.

so i took some origami paper in 4 patterns that i though could go together well, and tore it up and just mod-podged it onto a base that i made of thin cardboard covered on both sides with purple card stock.  it's all mod-podged on top of the paper.
there is some gold and purple sharpie ink in there, too.
the only difference between the 2 sides is that one is more random than the other.

i gave it to my mum because she likes purple, too, but i had to ask her to drill a tiny hole for her to hang it up, because she has a tiny drill and i don't.

this is really cool. I always buy origami paper and very rarely actually use it. Great idea. Smiley

thank you!

there's lots of things you can decorate with origami paper.  i saw where someone glued something like origami paper onto cardboard furniture (although maybe it was cloth, it COULD just as well have been paper).  maybe in MAKE magazine...

it would make great fabric in a collage with people in it, too (ex: pyjamas, asian print blouse or "hawaiian" shirt).
or parts of a garden, in a different collage.
