Swap name: Hands Across The Water: US to UK (and back) Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: lucy van pelt
Sign-up date range: Feb. 4-13, 2007
Date to send item by: March 13, 2007

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): Not neccessarily, but please see below...

Non-U.S. participants allowed? "UK-ers" please
All ages allowed? Or 18+? All Ages

Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders"
list and will not allow those members to participate: Yes.

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: Yes.

Details of swap:
It's baaack!  This swap, which is very liberal, will give those US and UK cousins a chance to really knock each other's socks off. We'll trade the very best of anything to do with our respective countries, including (as possible) the fondest desires of your swapping partner (as long as it's clean & legal, LOL). Anything goes, but please try to keep your budget in mind - we don't want you going broke. Magazines? Chocolate? Tea? Those tiny bottles of hair gel? Oatmeal? "My cousin went to San Jose and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"? Marmite? Anything you can think of that those on either side can't live without. This is better than a "My Country Doesn't Have..." this is "We GOTTA have it!"

You can work with your swap partner through communication so you can stay within the range of what is reasonable. You'll post a list of your 10 most desired items (again, within reason) and if you can't think of 10, ask for a surprise. It isn't required of your swap partner to fulfill your top 10; it rather serves as a baromter to your likes.
Crafting is welcomed, but not totally required. If you find you can craft something in lieu of finding it ready made, all the nicer.

We'll need equal amounts of participants from both sides of the pond! If you're willing to send an extra box if we're off, please let me know!

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Is there any chance you could budge the sign-up date? I'm one day short of having been here a month by the 11th!

Very tempted.. especially since you're organising it Lucy!
Have had problems with the last couple of swaps I've done so I kind of stopped participating in them.  =/

I'm a bit  Undecided about swaps at the moment - I got flaked on last JUNE and it still hasn't been resolved. I've written it off but I don't have the feedback! ANYWAY, I shall think about it (chances are I WILL sign up - I normally do give in!  Tongue)

contact a mod - if you were flaked ON, but you held up your end of the bargain, you should have had feedback AND an angel.

Hmmm, I wonder what customs would say about a haggis from the chip shop coming thru the mail Smiley
I could send Applets and Cotletts.
It looks a little heavy on the US end, but if you need a spare - I'll keep an eye on this one.

auntiem, just send over a whole chip shop. That was my favorite part of England when I was there and a haven of warmth in the cold cold winter!  Grin
