That is great! I needed something to thank my aunt for coming to my wedding, and she loves, loves, LOVES owls.

Here's Mine! Heh.

I followed the pattern till a couple rows after the owls were finished and started decreasing. It's not so bad that it's a little tall, it's still snug, but the owls definently need to be moved down closer to the ribbing so you can see them better imho  Wink

I also found the pattern to be troublesome in that the owls are placed too high on my head to really see them. I left out five of the top St. st. rounds and now my hat is too short! I might frog to the top of the owls and lengthen it. If anyone else makes this, follow autumnelayne's advice and move the cables closer to the ribbing.

bemaha - I love the yarn you used for your hat!  I'm actually pleased with the placement of my owls.  I figure that even though I can't see them all the time, everyone else can!  next time I knit this I'll try doing only 5 rows of St st before and after the motif.

This hat is sooo cute and they all look great.  I'm adding it to my knit list and will probably make it in brown.  Thanks for sharing.    Grin

I was changing the numbers on my copy of the pattern to move the cables down a bit, but then got to thinking...I prefer to wear my hats with the band folded up, which would mean the owls are in the right place...but if you wear a hat with the band down then you would want to move them down closer to the band.

I want to make this hat but I prefer to knit my hats top-down. Any tips for working the cable pattern backwards? I've never reversed a cable before.

thanks in advance.
