Sir Mix a lot: "I like big BUTTs and I can not lie"....that's a real nice translation!  Takes me back 15 years, to when I was young, foolish and fearless.  Tongue

I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions/whatever.  This is only my second card.  I know the background is a little plain.  I'm struggling with figuring out how to make my backgrounds interesting.  I'm hoping it will come with time and practice.

Alright...I made this card for Selise for the Movie ATC Swap but hubby begged and pleaded that I let him keep it so it's now his...but I wanted to share it because I'm pretty proud of it.

So sorry Selise...I'm back to the drawing board!  Wink

Strawholder, I love that card - that little kid's expression is so cute! In terms of backgrounds, I've found that plain old ink can do a lot. I have these small colored ink pads (they're square, probably a little bigger than a quater) and they work really well for adding some "interest" to the background. I just take a corner of the pad and start swiping it against the background. It can look pretty cool if you use multiple colors.

You also might want to take a look at the Share a Technique thread on this board - lots of very, very interesting stuff there that you might wanna try out. Good luck and keep posting cards - I like 'em!

Here's some I did for swaps on another board.

On this one, the fan moves, so you can cover and uncover the kids' faces.

Thank you for the suggestions, AsphaltQueen.  I have read through all of the pages of the technique thread, and am trying to decide what to try.  I am not an artsy person at all, but am trying SO hard to branch out.  I just don't think I have the "eye" for it, yanno?  I'm going to keep trying though.

The kid in my ATC is actually my son.  I altered the photo to look a bit older.  Smiley

I *love* the ones you posted.  Especially the pink one with the dragonfly.  Did you paint that background?

Especially the pink one with the dragonfly.  Did you paint that background?

That was done with a marker that's used for coloring stamps. I used a piece of white scrapbooking paper and outlined where I wanted the "blossoms" to go and colored everything else pink.  Grin

Strawholder, I think your card is great as is. The cutouts make it very interesting.

AQ, wonderful as always!
