So, my 25th birthday is in a couple weeks and I'm trying this whole "self-betterment" thing. Wah wah, right....Anyway, so I made a quick little shrine to remind myself of what I'm trying to accomplish.

I started with this box that orginally held these little cards that had quotes on them about new beginnings. I kept the original spine & I used this really nice paper with scientific illustrations of shells on it:

Front:

Inside - the red paper has a faux velvet thing going on:

the fortune says "to conquer your flaws, you must first accept them" with this gangsta picture of me from my New York I.D.

And, the back:

It's been forever since I've posted anything. Comments/suggestions welcome!

The playing cards were from an old pack I had lying around...they're from some casino b/c they have a hole punched out of the middle.

I'm not sure if I know what you mean by "inserts." The photo corners are just from a store that sells scrapbooking supplies and the awesome paper is from the store my boyfriend works at:

http://www.nycentralart.com/

Their stuff can be a little pricey (if you don't get the employee discount) but they carry all sorts of imported papers if you're into that kind of thing.

The other junk is from the massive amount of junk that I have collected over the years - knick knacks and such - shrines are really the best way to get rid of that kind of stuff!

My 25th year was phenomenal. I started single, depressed and cold in the dullest temp job known to man answering phones in deadly offices and getting yelled at by doughy men in ill fitting suits, went to Japan to work in a nightclub for a few months, partied with US Marines in Tokyo, came back, met a new man and ended the year engaged and pregnant with my eldest daugher and a new flat in London. Fantastic year. Happy Birthday!

I was so busy reminiscing I forgot to say that your shrine is fab.

Thanks! I've definitely got the base stuff down. Great bf that I live with, interesting job, but I think the problem is the whole transition into "adulthood" and all the stuff associated with that...The kind of stuff that is going to take a lot of thinking about, hence the shrine!

Congrats on your 25th year turnaround! I'm hoping that mine goes the same.

OH! So the box/shrine is a little larger than a playing card? I thought the box was book-sized and you had found oversized cards!!

Wow...too much dayquil!

It is still filled with awesome!
