Try the MPLS craigslist for an idea of what kinds of jobs are out there; that's how I got most of my previous jobs.  It really depends on what you're trying to do/what your qualifications are.  Jobs in the arts here are very competitive, but not impossible.

I just moved from Uptown to Cathedral Hill in St. Paul--I love it so much!  I got a job in St. Paul, and the drive home every night made me really crabby--so I moved. If you love Uptown, that's definitely where you should live; it's rather annoying to go there if you don't live there due to traffic and everything.  But when you live there it's great because you can walk or bike.

Again, the craigslist here is great.  Welcome!

I myself just moved to St. Paul from Cincinnati, OH and I'm loving it, although I haven't found a job yet...

Well, I'm "WORKING" the Twin Cities in late October.  I'm teaching at The Beadhive on Nicolette.

I live about 30min from downtown, but I love that.  Makes me happy to be able to be in 'the fray' when I want, but out again when I don't.  Best of both worlds I like to think.  I should probably put a plug in for our apts here http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/apa/438891451.html just in case you're looking  Wink  They're a great price, built in '05.  If you are looking, stop in that week or so that you have class.

Alright.  Enough of that  Smiley  I can't help out much with the jobs area...the info you got in your post seems to be what I'd tell you.  Target/local shops/etc.  I'm sure when you come to teach you'll be able to make a few connections though.  If you've got any sort of funds stored up, opening up your own bead shop in one of the suburban areas would be a great idea.  I wonder if there's on in the Waconia area??  They tend to have more of those lake-town boutique shops.  One had just opened this year in our area...seems to be catching on more.  I think this lady also had scrapbooking items in her store, which may have helped with traffic...  Hope that gives you a few more ideas...  Undecided  I'm sure you'll fit in great- hope everything works out for you!
