Hi! I'm going to be staying with my sister in Cranbrook for a while... I don't know much about the place.  I'm wondering if there are any cool crafty stores or any crafting events there.

I used to live in Creston!

There isn't a whole lot in Cranbrook anymore, just a fabricland I think which is in the tamarack mall on the main thouroughway, but if you're up for the extra hour and a half drive, you can find an awesome needlework store (Victorian Cottage Treasures: http://www.victoriancottagetreasures.com/ )  And right on the main highway is Quiltview corner which is a kick ass quilt shoppe (quiltview corner: http://www.quiltview.com/home/index.php )  The main little department store V&S/ McDowells has a decent fabric selection as well as some yarns, notions, etc and it's right on the main highway through town too.
