I made a teddy bear and pillowcases for travel-sized pillows for my little guy.  He loves the feel of toweling against his face so he adored both of them!

If you tear them into strips, you could knit or crochet a bath mat out of them

1.  sew them altogether (kind of quilt style) and use it when you go on picnics, camping, barbecuing, etc...

2.  make a large beach bag for when you go to the beach or the pool, that way you can use it if you need an extra towel.

3.  if there are any decorative ones (like from a hotel or monogrammed) and staple them to the back of an old frame and hang it as art...and if you have a few that are similar you can do a collection!

4.  make an apron for when you're doing the dishes or cleaning (or crafting!).

5.  make car seat slip covers so that when you're on the way back from the beach you wont get sand all over the seats of your car.

they are perfect for wiping paws off after a day in the mud or a long walk after a rain! Both doggy and kitty paws

I inherited a bunch of my Grandma's old handmade quilts.  When one of them had some loose stitches, I found inside she had sewn lots of old towels together to make the batting.  It made the quilt very heavy but thin, and very comforting.

Not crafty.. but theres always Freecycle. I know whenever someone posts towels on Freecycle here they get snapped up quick.
People like me are always looking for them (even ratty ones) for our pets..

Our animal shelter uses them for bedding and to dry off dogs after a bath. They are always asking for donated towels, blankets, and rugs.  You might want to check with your local shelters.

I cut mine up to use as dish towels.  But almost any animal shelter near you would LOVE to have them, they're always in desperate need of old towels and newspaper  Smiley
