Given enough coffee, I could rule the world.

Ack!  Thank you so much for this topic!  We go through at least one of those a week, and I just can't bring myself to throw them away, so they're just gathering in a huge pile in my craft room.  We've got about a dozen in use around the house:

One keeps hair doolies and bobby pins
One keeps my husband's paint brushes, and another for his pencils and pens
Three in a deep kitchen drawer to hold twist ties and plastic bag closures, little packets of salt and pepper and ketchup from fast food places, and other smaller containers I want to reuse (like baby food jars)
One keeps my fifty or so pre-wound bobbin spools (I can't seem to stop buying those when I see them)

Uh...I can't think of what else I'm using them for, but there are a bunch!  I LOVE these ideas, and I want to try all of them!

BUT.  They are dangerous.  The little metal lip along the top is SHARP underneath, so be careful while you're cleaning them out.

I gotta tell you, Im not that creative (Im a total mooch for ideas), so you could probably come up with way better stuff than me!!

I will tell you however that as my fiancee does go through real coffee cans like mad, I've started using them for all-practical purposes.  I hate the look for them, so I paint them and then use them however you could possibly imagine-as canisters for everything from pasta to flavor packets, to hold the dogs/cats medicines, etc., etc.  I use lots of them to hold my crafting supplies.  My recent favorite is to take my lunch in them-its about the size of a lunchbox, but nothing gets smooshed and my lunch looks way cuter and neater than anyone else (not that it makes my ham sandwich any more interesting! Wink)

OMG, that rules! I'm going to steal your idea! Wink Tongue

One year, my MIL and I covered some with Christmas paper and filled them with Christmas cookies and took them to the nursing home where her mother lived at the time.  The nurses were very appreciative.

You can also give them as gifts full of Christmas treats, or make a gift and put in it.

Just a couple of other ideas.
