I'm familiar with back and front post double crochet, so I can easily understand how you did the first and the second hat... but I have no clue as for the stitches you used for the last one. Please shed a light...

either front post or back post, I dont remember which it was. it depends on which way you're working the hat... and regular old dc, actually! I just alternated colors and played around until I had a hat. The inside of the hat is actually a fun little mess because I just carried the yarn behind the stitch.

Now that you say it, the red stitche reminds me of fp half double crochet (well at least in french it's a demi-bride en relief).

Usually I don't make skull hats, I feel like they're just unfinished head socks  Grin but I'll make sure to try those, such cute ideas!
