Hey guys, I updated a couple things on the first page, please let me know if there are any other abbreviations or terms that are more relevant now that should be added (hadn't been updated in a couple years so new things have probably popped up). Also, as of right now this list is mostly for Craftster forum information, not general internet abbreviations like DH, etc. I'm sure we have a list for internet abbreviations around here somewhere, I'll try to dig it up and add it to the first post, or add one in there if I can't find it.

I think one abbreviation that's been left out is WWP - Witch Wiccan Pagan.  Usually used to define a type of swap that is for craftsters that follow those paths, and craft items for magickal/spiritual use, ritual, solstices, or just in general witchy lifestyles. Cheesy

added, thank you!

In most cases internet abbreviations can be found at urbandictionary.com - you could direct people there

That's a good point, I think someone did mention that within the first page of replies. Maybe best to keep it simple Wink

Well if nothing else it's good as a "if you don't find what you're looking for, try..."

It's not a matter of size, but a matter of heart.

Have we posted on-going swap abbreviations?  Because I tend to forget a lot of them.

OWS - On-going Wish Swap
STS - Shop the Swap
OTT - One Tiny Thing
OYP - Once You Pop (Pringles can swaps)
OWYH - Offer What You Have
COWS - Children's Ongoing Wish Swap
IYP - Invite Your Partner (already been mentioned, I think)
LV - Little Visitor

I know there are others... little help?

can you get these posted on the first page?
also, how exactly do you "shop the swap"?  I think that's the only one that really confused me. Embarrassed

Got them, thanks!

Shop the Swap is fun! You set up a "shop" of finished items and price them in points. You are loaned 3 points to start with, but when you leave the swap you must give them back (ie, have 3 when you leave, if you spend down to 0 you will have to sell 3 points worth or else you can't leave the swap). You buy from other shops and they buy from yours. After someone buys I believe you have a week to ship out. There is some small print about how to make claims, but if you read the swap rules a couple times I'm sure it will start making sense!

Not an abbreviation - but often one of the first posts on a swap thread I see "Reserved for Partners" - what does that mean?

It's the post where the organizer will later go back and modify it to post the list of partners, who's paired with who and so forth. The benefit of it is that you can link to a specific post in a thread, but not a position in a post, meaning when that post is edited you can link directly to the partner list later on, rather than saying "it's there in the first post if you scroll around a bit" Cheesy

I had to read your post twice to figure out what you meant, but I get it now. That's a brilliant idea!
