this is some of the stuff i made for halloween.  i love halloween.

bat dress- this one i'll just explain the elastic ruching, which makes the gathered effect up thes side and the front.  say i want this dress to be 25 inches long, from armpit to hem.  i would actually cut the dress to be something like...35 inches long.  Then i take a piece of elastic that is 25" long.  I sew the end of this to the top of the dress at the side seam.  i use a wide zigzag stitch, and as i sew the elastic down the side seam, i stretch it.  when you get to the end of the dress, secure that end of the elastic.

zombie top- i made a really simple tube top with white t shirt material.  mine only covers the boobs, but you can make it as long as you want.  i covered this with some gauzy material i had cut in strips.  you could probably use cheese cloth or even muslin, though cheesecloth would look more like this top.  i took squares of the white fabric and cut spirals into them, like so

when you open it up, it will be a long ruffly piece.  i did the batwing armwarmers for the bat dress in the same manner.  i attached these ruffly pieces all over, and then i draped a lot of regular straight strips to hang over the front.  blood done the same as the bloody white dress.

bloody white dress- find a vintage slip.  draw lines on it with black or red marker.  take black embroidery floss and make messy stitches over the lines.  (the lines are really optional.)  now get some red fabric paint.  using equal parts paint and water (really, just make sure it's not too thick), paint it on the stitch lines.  splatter it all over.  smear hand prints, etc.  basically, get messy.

pirate dress- tube top style bodice with many layers of ruffled skirting.  the straps were done like so- take a scrap of black t-shirt material.  cut it in strips, making sure that they stretch the long way.  i took some thicker pieces and cut it into 3 or 4 strips, but only about half way, and then two strips on the other side, that's how the bigger center piece is done.  but then you just criss-cross them all over the place.

the rest are pretty self explanatory, i think.  have fun!

Very cool.  Please share how you made the neckline on the top picture.  I've been trying to do something like that...

tanks.i had more planned, but that was all i could get done in the two weeks or so that i spent working on them

oneireal-  to make the neckline, i made like a basic strapless dress and then took a scrap of black t-shirt material.  cut it in strips, making sure that they stretch the long way.  i took some thicker pieces and cut it into 3 or 4 strips, but only about half way, and then two strips on the other side, that's how the bigger center piece is done.  but then you just criss-cross them all over the place.
