I've been browsing everyone's altered books and binders and whatnot and I was inspired to do something myself. My mom and my SIL like to scrapbook, but I never get into it, even though they do some pretty cool things. I finally figured out what was lacking -- FABRIC. I'm a fabric-a-holic, and I need some warp and weft in my life, lol.

So, I decided to make a journal of that! My mom had given me a couple 3" binders when I thought I could store my patterns in them, instead of boxes. When that idea didn't pan out, I stuck them in a corner, never to be heard from again. Until now...

This is the only photo with flash, so the color is off here.

I raided my mom's velcro drawer for this neat little closure.

All the fabric is mine, but the sparkly pen and purple paper (and glue) is raided from my mom's scrapbooking supplies. Anyone else noticing a mom-theme here?

All stuff I thought I'd never get a chance to use in my sewing made it somewhere in this basic binder. The green "watermark" I bought today, actually! I couldn't resist it...

And a little of my mitering skills.

I hope that I'll start making pages for it soon ^^; But I wanted to brag, because I love how it turned out. Thanks you guys!

I find this forum very inspiring, also.

That looks great!  Love the fabrics and the colors you chose!  Good luck!

Oh wow I love the fabric. I think I'm gonna make one because I hate hate hate the look of binders.  Cheesy

A new page. The words and pattern are from my Crochet magazine, which heroically sacrificed itself to this project (the lace around the page is actually the inside of the back cover, not the page itself).

A closeup of my 3d 'yarn ball' and the hands. I don't know if you can tell, but the yarn is wrapped around the pinky.

A quote on the inside of the front cover:

This page looks incredibly basic to me for how long I worked on it.

Edited to say: I suppose I should credit mom's scrapbooking stash for the paper and glue. Yay for raiding.

That's very cool.  I have thought about doing something similar, to kind of showcase my interests/projects.  I too never got into the scrapbooking thing, and I also have a couple of scrapbook enthusiasts in my family.
I love your first page, and I'm really interested to see what else you'll come up with.
