thank you so much everyone!

aww and you have matching nails too! very cute!

hehe. yes. my boyfriend has been painting his nails black for about two years now. i've seen him without them once. so to surprise him for formal, i painted mine black, too!!

this is completely irrelevant...but i love your shoes.

thanks! i got them at kohls...they are by candie's, and i believe they are still on the website. they come in red, too! i also have a pair that are similar, and in polka dot print...how perfect would have have been? except the heels on them are about 4 1/2 inches, and as you can tell...my 2 1/2 inch heels were pushing it as my boyfriend is only about three inches taller than me...

Great job with the fitting! It came out perfect, and I'm saying it again - that dress is really pretty... and your handbag matches! Cheesy

As soon as I saw that pattern in the catalogue I just had to buy it, but I haven't gotten around to testing it out yet. I think you've inspired me to run to the fabric store, that dress looks perfect. And I love the polkadots Cheesy

This too is completely irrelevant: you have the same shape I did when I was younger, i.e. like a playing card (broad from the front, non-existent from the side).  LOL!  I have a bunch of pictures like that, and whenever I pull them out I feel like I have to explain to people that, "I wasn't that big, really!"   Grin

ahhh someone understands!! yay!!! heehehe. yes...i look at some pictures and go woooaahh there, did i gain some weight?...then look at others and go hey?? where'd i go?? lol. good to know i'm not alone!!

thanks! i know, i was searching randomly through a crafting website and found this pattern. it's adorable! and the great thing is that there's so many variations you can make on it, and depending on what fabric you choose, you can either dress it up or play it down casual! i plan to make some more of these in some cute printed fabric for summer dresses!

That is sooo cute! I just saw a dress like that in a catalouge - black and white polka dot strapless with tulle but they had white tulle and a white ribbon with a bow around the waist - for $100 - and I really loved it but didnt want to spend the money buttt youve inspired me! Do they sell that pattern at walmart? And also was it very hard to make? I'm not a very experienced sewer  Tongue

Nire dress! It fits you perfectly, and I normally hate polka dots, but that material is actually a great pick! O.o

Thank you everyone!! I went on a hunt for polka dot satin at joann's, and it was there! in like five different colors, too. and throw in a 50% off coupon...yay!!

it wasn't TOO hard. i'm not very experienced either, in fact this was my first big project with a pattern!! I made mistakes. a lot, actually. hahaha. but it turned out pretty ok!! the hardest part was probably the zipper...and i still didn't get it the best, but oh well. i would say go for it. just double and triple check everything before you cut, and keep making sure it'll fit before you finally sew the bodice to the skirt...my mistake!! i'm not sure if they have this pattern at walmart, i didn't check there...i actually got mine online for about 10 dollars. kind of expensive for a pattern but i really really wanted it and i know i'll reuse it again.

If you have a Joann's nearby, they carry Burda patterns.  Haven't spent enough time at Walmart to know whether they have them.  I don't know all the places online that they're available, but I know patternreview.com sells Burda patterns. (I try very hard not to look at patterns... I frequently fail.  Wink  )
