Does anybody know a fabric store in Manhattan where I can get cotton fabrics in cheap price?
I'm looking for a medium weight solid cotton fabrics to make about 7~8 simple aprons with iron-on-transfered logo.
I know a lot of designer fabric stores in fashion district, but all of the fabrics they sell are so expensive for this kind of project.

Thank in advance!  Cheesy

there is a cheap place on the lower east side on stanton street at essex street.  it is west of essex on the north side of the street.  i'm not exactly sure what its called.  its a real hole in the wall, but if you can tell them exactly what you're looking for then its great.  if you are looking for inspiration it is not the place to go because 3/4 of the fabric is hidden behind other fabrics.
good luck and let me know if you find any other inexpensive places!

Thanks, acoover!
I'm gonna hit the store this weekend, and will leave a review.
I wished I could find one in the fashion district, so that I can stop by during the lunch hour. Well, at least there is one in Manhattan.

i've found a few in the fashion district that are also pretty cheap.  they are on 39th near the west corner of 7th ave on the south side of the street.  one is called something like fashion fabrics and i can't remember the other name.  they both have neon signs in the windows.  you might want to try those as well.  let me know how you make out!

There are a ton of stores up and down like 39th Street...

My fave on 39th is Arya, the guys that run it are really good to me - I've been shopping there for about four years now.  Otherwise, there's a pretty inexpensive store in Broadway just south of Canal Street, on the east side of the street.  I've found the Lower east Side pretty expensive, so I'd definitely like to know how you make out down there!
