So... I've joined up with the "no new yarn in '07" brigade... you know, where you knit up everything you have before you can buy new yarn.  I think I have one of the loftiest tasks, as I've somehow garnered over 180 skeins of many, many different kinds of yarn that are currently residing in what we lovingly call my "yarn coffin" (it also serves as my coffee table).

And on top of that, I'd like to expand my knitting skills greatly.  I've been knitting for many years, but due to combining that with many other hobbies (theatre, singing, D&D, video games, board games, tea-ology, romance novels, writing, failing out of college), I haven't actually learned too many techniques and expanded beyond hats, scarves, felted dice bags, and one cabled mess that has yet to be identified... most of which I freeformed, because I also am not accustomed to reading patterns.

So I've picked up the One Skein Knitting book (the first knitting book I've owned, I'm a library-aholic too) and I want to go through and knit every pattern, even if it's something I'm not remotely interested in.  It should use up a good number of skeins, there will be patterns for all of the different weights I have, and there's quite a few things in there that I really have no idea how to make...  I'm aware that there's a few crochet items as well, so for a KAL purpose, we could skip that, or combine it with a crochet-community CAL.

Is anyone interested in a major book-and-stash-attack KAL and learning experience?  Have any input or advice?  Think I've completely lost my mind?

I've been debating getting this book for the same reason!  let me know how it works out for you.  so far I've done a lot of smaller projects just from searching online - mostly hats and things.

I like this book as the projects I have done or modified (about 5) turned out well.  There are more things I will make using this book as the basis (I have a hard time following directions!)  I also have the One Skein Wonders book and also use it for inspiration.  "Wonders" gives some additional variations - same scarf in two different yarn weights.  Both serve their purpose for me.

I meant One Skein Wonders, I didn't realize there was a book called One Skein Knitting... interesting.

Yep, there are two:

"One skein"

and "One skein Wonders"

There are more projects in "Wonders".  I bought "one skein" first though.

I've got "One Skein" too and love it.  I've made a couple of things so far.  I tried my hand at the felted bowls but have yet to figure out the felting technique fully.  I don't have a stash nearly as large as I've only been knitting off and on for a couple of years.  Good luck.
