So long ago, I wanted to learn to crochet so I got a cheapo crochet set with horrible directions. I was supposed to make a nice little square learning swatch to practice stitches. What did I end up with?

A penis. I showed my sister. Yup, it was a penis.

I still dont know how it went so wrong.

Looking back, I wish i still had it to sew onto a jacket or something.  Grin

Looking at the pic, I think you either accidentally added stitches at the ends of your rows, or else your starting chain was way tighter than the rest of your stitches.

My advice? Make sure you only do however many stitches are supposed to be in the row, don't do anything with the chain stitches at the end of the row (they're only there so you can turn the piece easier really), and watch your tension!

My favorite was the labels. I know it's childish, but nutsack made me laugh.

You've gotten way further than any of my crochet attempts, I end up just making long strings, I can't ever seem to make it fatter (like a square) without it getting all curly, me getting frustrated, and then it getting ripped apart! I applaud your attempt, even if it did turn out to be a penis.

Im glad I gave you guys a laugh  Grin Ive gotten better thankfully!!! I started keeping a site with my finish projects as I got better but updating it fell to the wayside (mostly because I would give the stuff away and forget to take pics of it). It you wanna see some of my beginner stuff its at my site www.mitzylives.net (its supposed to be a pink site but sometimes a default template loads, so if it does, refresh)
