These are all so cute!  I love it!  I love the pictures of food on each page.  I wish I'd thought of that!

Yeah, mine seems kind of lame in comparison, although I know at least the recipes are good.  Smiley

My original idea was to get themed paper (I imagined paper with little chickens, desserts (slices of desserts, doughnuts, ice cream cones), cows, cute vegetables, etc.).  Turned out, the only food themed paper I ran across was strawberries, and it really only would have worked for one of my recipes.  I was somewhat disappointed. And my drawing skills are extremely minimal.

Ok, that's not quite true. My ORIGINAL idea was to make a dessert only book, and crochet a pie slice as the cover for the book (ran across a really cute pattern for it just before I signed up). Somehow, though, putting recipes for Shrimp Scampi, Roast Sticky Chicken, and Sausage Pepper Pasta in a book shaped like a pie slice didn't really work for me.  Smiley

oh.  my.  good.  gravy.  i would LOVE a crochet pie slice.  it's all about the pie.

(i used to bake and sell pies on the air force base i lived at a few years back.  i actually received a squadron coin from the first sgt for "baking excellence". incidentally i can be credited with putting half the flight on the weight restriction list.  >.<)

My mom made two kinds of pie when I was a kid (mostly pumpkin, an occasional apple). I make apple, pumpkin, strawberry rhubarb, cherry, blueberry, chocolate, chocolate mousse, mixed berry jello pie, banana cream, and the occasional lemon meringue (read: only for my mom for Mother's Day every couple years).

The problem with a pie swap is that you can't swap actual pies (silly postal regulations).  Grin

you can't swap actual pies?  i've personally seen live boa constrictors, raw steaks, and shellfish delivered to homes (my parents....they're a tad eccentric.)
but i meant more like pie themed crafts and recipes.  as well as actual pies.

Hmmmm...a pie swap.  Well, you could probably send one of those pre-made crusts (the graham cracker crusts or cookie crusts that don't have to be refrigerated) and any of the dry ingredients that would be used for it (canned fillings, puddings, powdered sugar).  Oh, and the rest of the recipe.  And of course, some crafted things in the spirit of Pies!

Actually, for the chocolate mousse pie I have, I could send everything but the whipping cream and the milk.  In fact, I guess I'll post it as my recipe:

Chocolate Mousse Pie (found in either Taste of Home or Quick Cooking magazine a few years ago)

7 ounces milk chocolate (or dark, I use chocolate chips because they melt faster)
16 large or 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1/2 cup milk
2 cups whipping cream, whipped
1 baked pie crust (graham cracker is good, chocolate cookie is really good)

Place chocolate, mashmallows and milk in a heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth. Cool.  Fold in whipped cream. Pour into crust. Refridgerate at least 3 hours.

Yum....  you can decorate it with additional chocolate chips (in the shape of a heart for Valentine's day if you choose).  Smiley

OOOOOOOO....it would be like one of those "cookie" jars people give as gifts that come with all the ingredients in them and you just add the liquids (ie..eggs, oil, butter, etc...)....that would be so COOL!...
