I made this wall hanging to go in a friend's guest bathroom.  It is 10" by 12".  The piecing and quilting are done by machine, while the appliqué, embroidery, and yo-yos are done by hand.  If you wish, you can read more about the process of making this quilt here.

That's really sweet and your lighting is fabulous.  I love the subtle changes between your greens.

very pretty!  I think your yo-yps turned out great, and the buttons in the center are a nice touch.  I don't think they look too big for the flowers.  Great job!

that is sooooo cute!!!  I have just wisted your work!
I took my first (and quite possibly my last) quilting class - I don't think the instructor and I see eye to eye.  She wants to put everything in a computer - know EXACTLY what colors you are going to use and exactly how big it is going to end up being and she didn't understand that I was going to pull from my fabric stash and use whatever I have and when I think it is big enough, it is going to be big enough.. and that I wanted to do all the quilting by machine not by hand.

Yeah, I think I will wait for my mom to teach me how to do it!!

That is just soooo sweet though.

That sounds like a horrible experience! It sounds like she sucked all the fun out of quilting. Don't give up, quitling is such a wonderful and enjoyable hobby.

My mother said that she will give me the directions on how to make a crazy quilt - and that it is the same quilt she started all my nieces in and that it would be a great first project... and she also agreed that hand quilting an entire  quilt is not my thing.

Yeah, I just think it was a bad mesh.  I will try my mother's crazy quilt and see how it goes.  It will be fun to just put anything and everything on it.  It sounded like a fun way to go and the kids would probably love something like that as well - they can go exploring all over the quilt that has no rhyme or reason..

I still love that wallhanging.  I really love applique and it is on my will learn to do list this year!

I loooooooove crazy quilt piecing. It's great because you don't have to plan anything - it just happens!  However, I think all that embroidery would kill me.

Oh, I love appliqué.  It's so worth learning.  I prefer the way it looks when done by hand, so that's how I usually do it (unless I'm being especially lazy).  I can't stand piecing or quilting by hand, but the appliqué is actually enjoyable.
