"Ditzy, Dottie, Dress"
«
on:
January 19, 2007 02:19:33 PM »
This was a dress I fashioned from "Inez" fabric purchased at Ikea for the low, low price of $3.99 per yard (I am seriously cheap, umm, I mean a good bargain hunter and thrifty. Yes, that sounds much better
).
While I like exploring Ikea I feel some type of panic attack coming over me each and every time I venture through their doors! The eyes of the shoppers seem glazed over with mindless consumption and I imagine them ready to attack me! Obviously, I just don't deal well with the hustle and bustle of the modern, capitalistic world.
Anyway, I found this fabric and after paying ran for the door and made this dress the very same night!
I created mocha brown bias binding and a coordinating (but not matching) belt with a different circular pattern in the same colors as the body of the dress.
Strangely, I happened to notice this same fabric made into curtains in Carrie Bradshaw's apartment in
Sex in the City
. Huh, maybe I should see if I have enough fabric left over for some drapes...

Such a cute outfit with the fishnets! I had no idea IKEA sold fabric. It looks fairly simple to make...did you use a pattern?

I absolutely love this dress and all the others you've posted recently - they are beautiful! Do you use a pattern or are you just a dress genius?

Man, this is another amazing one. I think that you've actually inspired me enough to go to my craft room and start going on my day. Great job again.
P.S. I am curious too if you use patterns? Either way, you are a total inspiration.

I love your dress, the patter of the fabric and the style of the dress are amazing... plus I love the little ties at the shoulders!
I do have a question too!
How do you get a skirt to flare out like that... is it a bunch of almost upside down "V" shapes? Does that make sense?

Okay... so, first off, you make absolutely amazing dresses. I've been watching your posts for the last few days and I'm hugely impressed.
Do you use the same pattern for all of them? They seem to be in the same general style. If yes, which pattern please? If no, wow, you're amazing.
Well, either way, this dress is my favorite of the ones you've posted, I'm a huge dork for brown.

I always see my Ikea furniture on tv and in movies! Haha.
The maximum I would pay for fabric is $2.50.
Great dress!

WOW, just wow, I keep seeing your dresses as I scroll through the projects posted on the clothing boards, so I decided to click on your name and view all the projects you have posted. I am in awe. Not only do you make gorgeous dresses, but purses and shirts as well. I wanted to comment on everything because I love it all (however that would seriously take me all night) I just decided to pick my favorite project you have up. This is awesome, I hope someday to be able to create such beautiful clothing.
