This got a little lost in Sushimifune's roomy bag tute thread, so I've deleted the message and am re-posting so no one misses it.

WARNING: large images. Please be patient. Hope they are not too scribbly to follow.

Here's what this looks like at Step 6:

The white lines show how the stitching goes, the arrows indicate where to pivot.
After I made the pockets square (as seen), I changed my mind and made them with rounded corners. I highly recommend rounded corners in any pocket--less places for lint, change, and other kipple to hide.

And here's the finished pocket:

When I have some time this weekend, I'll re-letter with Pshop so it's clearer.

I agree that the directions are hard to read, but I can't wait for the clearer version! I always wanted to make a bag that has a pocket inside.. hm...

but the edges they fold and you suddenly find you are buried beneath a blanket of snow you had no idea was even falling.

thanks so much! i was making a messenger bag for a girl and accidentally cut the inside lining in half so I came here looking for a solution (a zipper pocket wouldve been ugly).. this was perfect Smiley

I would like to help with your tute if thats ok.. Ive vamped it up with clearer pics and lettering.. will post tomorrow (photohost is down due to maintenance) unless you object!

I'm glad it helped! I came up with the slash pocket solution after cutting my lining in two pieces (like the outside of my purse), instead of one like I meant to.

Regarding cleaning up the tute: I appreciate the thought, but I'd rather you didn't. I'm funny about my work that way, even tutorials. I haven't been able to get to it for a while because I've been drawing Hardy Boys comics.
My new one will be all inked and computer-lettered and everything. Scanning drawings made on linen-weave paper: not good idea.
