Does anybody know how to make a faux slate floor? My basement has a concrete floor that is a real ugly and I have heard of people painting a faux slate floor. I've never painted a floor before so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Concrete is an awesome base to do faux finishes on!

Your first step is to make sure the concrete is sealed with a sealer before you begin the faux finish. Then you need to put down a primer, and I recommend a latex base product since you will be working in a basement, and fumes will be a concern.

Since it is a bit harder to describe the whole process I found a link that will do it beter than I could. Adjust the paint colors based on what color slate you want to immitate.

Faux Slate

Good luck!  Smiley
