Do you want to redecorate to re string or do you want to make something better/new out of it?

Decoupage music-related photos and graphics all over it, and use it as a wall hanging.  Or suspend it from the ceiling.  Be sure to add other elements like rhinestones, feathers, and other 3-dimensional objects so that it has depth and interest.

Have fun with it!

I want to turn it into some sort of art piece.

Hmm an art peice..... Im thinking maybe you could get some wires and make them look like crazy snapped strings coming off of it... That along with paint would be cool...
Another idea is to ihave it look like there are notes traveling out of it or a creature crawling out of the center... Hope that gives you any ideas

I watched this show once where a man decorated his entire house with furniture made of real guitars.  He had guitar lamps, tables, shelves, it was really neat.

take it apart and cut the top (or front) off put hinges on it and put little shelves in the body and hang it for a really cool secret cabnet...maybe where you keep your strings and your tuner Wink

Wow...how funny that I came across this thread.  I had a gtr just like this one & I made a great planter out of it (well...2).  What I did was...I took off the headstock & neck, then I cut the gtr body in half horizontal (long ways).  I sanded the cut smooth & shalaked the hell out of it inside & out so that it is water tight. I put cactuses (cactus-i ?) in it, just so I don't have to put much water in it.  Good luck & have fun.

There was an exhibit I saw a while ago with hands painted on to violin parts.  You could do a series if you wanted to disassemble it.

I would go with the secret cabinet idea, though.  I like artsy but functional things.

wow you just gave me the perfect idea for a xmas gift this year for my husband! He's been a pro all our married life 33yrs now and even before then! I have millions of pictures that are not that great for displaying so they are in an old zippered plastic blanket bag.  This could be a good use for them. I was so reluctant to throw them away. There are some very popluar musicians and singers there not to mention all of the bands he's been in and the other Steel guitar players that he idolizes.
Thank you so much for this. I'm soooo glad I saw this thread!
